Project Objectives
The primary objectives for the partnership between zenGate Global and Saint Helena, utilizing the Palmyra Ecosystem, are:
Elevate Saint Helena’s Exports: To enable producers of coffee, fishery, flax, and honey to instantly and irrefutably prove sustainability and gain access to higher-value global markets. This is intended to directly support the island’s strategic need to increase exports, improve its trade deficit, and reduce external financial dependence.
Achieve Premium Pricing: To use the verified data from Palmyra Pro to ensure producers of high-quality goods like coffee and honey are paid fairly and command a premium price for their sustainable efforts.
Champion Digital Inclusion: To deploy user-friendly, enterprise-grade digital tools that require only a basic smartphone and function seamlessly offline, ensuring all small-holder farmers and fishers on the island can participate in the global digital economy.

Project description of activities and specific interventions

The Palmyra Ecosystem drives sustainability for Saint Helena’s commodities by transforming transactions into immutable digital proof, ensuring traceability and transparency through the following specific activities and interventions:
Deployment of the Palmyra Ecosystem
The core intervention is the deployment of the Palmyra Pro.
Specific Commodity Interventions
EUDR Compliance and Transparency for Coffee:
Activity: Palmyra Pro will create a verifiable digital passport for every coffee bean.
Intervention: Farmers will collect verifiable land-use data.
Result: This proves crops are deforestation-free, essential for compliance with the strict EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and gaining market access.

Traceability and Transparency for Honey:
Activity: The platform enables producers to map beehives and track sustainable harvesting methods.
Intervention: This verifies that their operations preserve the ecosystem.
Result: Creation of an immutable record of sustainability, resulting in traceable honey that enhances transparency for buyers and assures ethical sourcing.
Fishery and Flax Immutable Records:
Activity: The technology creates an immutable digital record for major export sectors (fishery and flax).
Intervention: This provides transparent, digital evidence of sustainable sourcing (for fishery) and demonstrates sustainable production (for flax).
Compliance and Market Access:
Activity: The system simplifies compliance with all stringent international requirements by providing verifiable data.
Intervention: Producers gain the ability to sell directly to buyers in Europe, cutting out unnecessary middlemen.
Result: Higher profits and fairer compensation for producers and a distinct competitive advantage for Saint Helena’s exports.
